Admit it. We’re spoiled. For a town our size, we have a wonderful variety of restaurants from which to choose, but few that feel like they are real destinations.
The antidote for the ho-hum restaurant experience is the elegantly modern RIVUE. Soaring 25 stories above the Ohio River atop the Galt House RIVUE Tower, the restaurant is contemporary and comfortable, with an eye for important details.
The star of the show here is the view – breathtaking vistas up and down the Ohio River. Seated on revolving platforms ensure that you never tire of one particular vantage point.
The menu at RIVUE perfectly suits the elegant décor. It’s sophisticated, contemporary American cuisine with a distinct, friendly Bluegrass influence.
Appetizers are as beautifully presented as they are delicious. We had a variety of the favorites ranging from tender, paper-thin slices of beef carpaccio; to jumbo shrimp cocktail and fresh Imperial Crab Croquant. The Asparagus bisque was a creamy delight, and the Limestone Bibb, Tuscan Bean and Mediterranean Feta salads were each fresh twists on classic favorites.
I love the simple, flawlessly executed variety on the entrée menu at RIVUE. I opted for Sea Bass, one of my favorites, but also a specialty of the house. Marinated in orange juice and soy sauce the tender and flaky dish is garnished with nuts and wasabi peas – the perfectly spicy and crunchy compliment. A dinner mate had the delicious Salmon while the serious carnivores among us took advantage of two wonderful chef specials: the Surf and Turf and the beautifully presented Bison Ribeye.
On earlier visits I have enjoyed both the filet and the equally wonderful osso bucco – each simple, elegant and flawlessly executed.
The cherry on top of the RIVUE dining experience comes in the form of a jar of Sour Cherry Chewies – just one of the confections presented on the roving Candy Cart. We anticipated the cart like a sweaty kid waiting for the ice cream man, and sampled everything offered from the almond brittle to the white chocolate covered pretzel sticks.
Great Bite tips:
Sunday brunch, weekly from 10am until 3pm, is a crowd-pleasing affair.
Light dinner in the lounge is sure to impress any date – enjoy tapas, signature cocktails and get the same breathtaking view available to dinner patrons at a fraction of the price.
RIVUE will host the G3 Soiree on Thursday, September 4th
