For those of you who do not know me, call me Scarlett. I’ve been recently honored with the title of Miss Fuzion 2008. I am a twenty-two year old performance artist born and raised in Indiana; a small town girl with big ambition.

I first began my career as a female impersonator at a local coffee shop’s talent competition, formally known as Sumshee’s (R.I.P.). I then developed a cast of few select local entertainers, known as Fabu Tabu. Once the cookie crumbled, I received a call from Matt Harris regarding Fuzion Night Club’s cast opening, and Deluzion was born. From this, a weed took root into my life, also known as DEMENTIA.

Inspiration flourished from this weed as she changed the way I looked at drag. I no longer saw it as ‘dressing up as a girl’. It was more self-expression through music, movement, fashion, dance and art. Performance art was now a part of me.

My newly acquired perspective helped me obtain the title of Miss. Fuzion 2008. As the pageant approached I conceptualized my path to victory. The categories intrigued me, and I had to work out as many details as possible in my head. The day before the pageant, I began my execution. The Picasso had been painted, the Couture gown had been sewn, the music was mixed and the talent was choreographed. I was ready.

The pageant was a pleasant experience because I was able to watch the people I was competing against whip out the goods and put up an amazing competition. Hair was pulled, blood was spilled, glitter was thrown and there were drag droppings everywhere. My self-confidence and experience led me to victory through this intense battle for the crown. Good game!
