Cheers For Louisville!

Louisville is fast becoming a destination for same sex couples. It seems more and more I receive calls and emails from all over the country from gay people wanting to talk about the possibility of relocation to Louisville.

It's no surprise with our low cost of living, favorable reviews in many popular city rankings, and central location that we are really beginning to see our community grow. When I speak to these people, they are often surprised that we have accomplished so much to make Louisville a gay friendly city.

We have a Fairness ordinance in Louisville that helps to protect us from discrimination, we have a public school system that has prohibited discrimination for their employees, we have universities that are offering same sex benefits, and a population who by a sizable majority supports Fairness.

We have great events in our community that larger cities would envy. We have the Bluegrass Classic Bowling Tournament which draws visitors from across the country, the Beaux Arts Ball, Derby Bash, Masquerade, LAVA Volleyball Tournament, and a very well attended Pride Festival and parade.

So when you travel and meet people from other cities, you can say quite proudly, Louisville is a great place to live and be gay.
